Since 1948 the World Health Organisation (W.H.O.) has defined ‘health’ as: “A state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
I other words, just because you are not overly injured or impaired does not mean that you are ‘Healthy’. As we reach our 30’s our bodies cease growing, we start to age in earnest and the effects of ageing are irreversible. While we can’t stop ageing, we can slow the process down by eating well, exercising regularly and avoiding tobacco and alcohol. You don’t have to be old to have a progressive disease. Many of the biggest causes of premature death or infirmity are dubbed silent killers – diseases like Hypertension, COPD, Diabetes, Hypercholesterolemia and Cardiovascular may remain undiagnosed for years. These conditions are often exacerbated through poor lifestyle choices and if left unchecked the harm that they cause can be irreversible.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. A Healthy Balanced Diet, coupled with a targeted exercise regime can prevent the onset of or slow the progression of these (and other) diseases – and in some cases clients can even go into remission – becoming symptom and medication free. * Get Fit 4 Life can help you to first identify the many facets of and develop strategies to achieve ‘Good Health’. At Get Fit 4 Life we define the three principle pillars of Good Health as Physical Fitness, Nutritional Fitness and Medical Fitness respectively.
